Darshakam 036 Parashurama Avatharam

This episode celebrates the Pārasurāma Avatāra, the sixth incarnation of Viṣṇu, whose role is to eradicate unrighteous Kṣatriya rulers and re-establish dharma. It recounts how Pārasurāma, born to Sage Jamadagni and Anasūyā, avenges the murder of his father by repeatedly vanquishing warrior clans that oppressed Brahmins. Through divine penance and Śiva’s axe, he restores cosmic and social order by slaying twenty-one generations of tyrants, yet halts his campaign on Sanatkumāra’s counsel—showing that even divine wrath is tempered by wisdom and restraint. Finally, he rescues the land of Kerala from the sea with his fiery arrow, symbolizing divine protection and the renewal of creation. Thus, Dashakam 36 underscores Viṣṇu’s function as the upholder of righteousness, using both fierce justice and compassionate mercy to safeguard the world’s moral and spiritual foundations
