Asian equities are mixed on the back of accelerating inflation in Japan for the first time in four months. A four-day truce between Israel and Hamas takes effect. The first set of hostages are due for release at 1500 CET. In Germany, the ruling coalition has eased its foot off the debt brake to unveil a special budget following last week’s constitution court ruling which left Berlin’s spending plans in tatters. Barclays reportedly eyes a plan to cut as much as £1 bn in costs which could translate into 2,000 job losses.
