Southgate rules Jordan Henderson out of this match at the San Siro, discusses why these games against Italy and Germany are so important, discusses The FAs stance on human rights in Qatar, how concerned he is about England’s run of four games without a win, whether he’s felt a need to speak to defender Harry Maguire about his poor club form, reassures doubters that the FA have spoken to involved parties about what stance could be made to promote human rights in Qatar, says that the result of the Euro 2020 final is now history and it’s more important to respond to poor recent results than gaining revenge over the Italians, whether he was surprised by the make up of the Italian squad with only 11 of the Euros squad left and what’s he’s learnt from reflecting on the poor run of results in the summer and says it’s not important what fans thought about him personally after those games. Kane speaks about discussions among international captains about how to address the issue of human rights in Qatar, England’s current run of four games without a win, what he feels needs to change to end that run, says there’s only so much as players that they can do to highlight human rights issue but they will try, the importance of avoiding Nations League relegation to keep a good seeding for Euro 2024.
