What is coaching and why do people 'need' coaching. 

Helen Isacke from the Trusted Coach Directory talks with Phil Rose about the world of coaching. Coaching is about asking questions and being curious for the answers. It's about creating a dialogue to help people increase their self-awareness. People choose to work with a coach typically because they are aware of what coaching is and are ready to do the 'inner' work to progress in their life.

In this episode with Helen we start with the question “What is coaching?” and “Why do people choose to work with a coach.”

Helen gives her views on the key things people need to look for when selecting a coach to work with including qualifications, supervision and testimonials.

            Coaching is NOT training, consulting, mentoring, solution giving, therapy, counselling

            Coaching IS Talking to someone who truly listens,   being curious

            Drive to find out what's driving their behaviour

            The coach needs to understand the role and stress the person is under

            500 formal coaching hours to gain ICF PCC

19:45   ICF Coach accreditation is one approach
