White Sox Wake Up Call: July 5, 2018

The Rundown:

• White Sox end up losing two out of three as Dylan Covey collapsed in the fourth inning. Good news - Yoan Moncada hit his 11th home run of 2018 and Avisail Garcia extended his hitting streak to 14 games. 


• Tonight's starting pitching matchup is Carlos Rodon vs. Justin Verlander. Hopefully, the White Sox score more than two runs in this series against the Astros. 


• Down in the minors, Charlotte wins thanks to outstanding bullpen work from Aaron Bummer and Ian Hamilton. Winston-Salem Dash score 14 runs after the fifth inning, but lose Blake Rutherford to injury. 


• Around Major League Baseball, the Oakland A's are now a season-best nine games above .500 as they remain within striking distance of the Seattle Mariners for the last playoff spot.
