Host: Dr. Susan Buttross, Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and Abram Nanney
Topic: When you find out that someone you care about has cancer of any kind, it can be tough to know what to say or how to support them. In your shock and sadness, it may be difficult to keep your emotions in check. An impulsive attempt to comfort or reassure may not be what the doctor ordered and actually may do the opposite of what you are hoping to do. In honor of October being Breast Cancer awareness month, we’ll be talking to psychologist, Dr. Cindy Karlson, on the dos and don’ts of giving the support that those loved ones likely want and need.
