Wetumpka Impact Crater - Wetumpka, Alabama

Wetumpka, is a city located in Elmore County, Alabama, and its called "The City of Natural Beauty" by some of the locals, like myself. This city is home to Alabama's greatest natural disaster. A meteorite, estimated to be 1,000 feet wide, hit the area about 83 million years ago. Creating a 5 mile wide impact crater, roughly 175,000 times greater than the nuclear explosion in Hiroshima in 1945, that blasted into the bedrock of this so called star wound.
