Do you need a Digital Detox? When was the last time you hold your phone and scroll on social media? In this episode, Josh sat down with Jill Simonian, Parenting Lifestyle Contributor, to talk about the negative impact of screen time. If you are a parent looking for help on how to keep their children safe online, listen in as Jill shared some actionable steps that you can apply to your household.

How did Jill transform from being an entertainment journalist to now a parenting expert and author

I have a website; thefabmom.com. The fab stands for focused after babies. I started blogging to keep my head on straight.

My book is for first-time pregnant moms. If you're looking for a baby shower gift it's called The Fab Moms Guide: How to Get over the Bump and Bounce Back Fast after Baby. It's a ton of stories and chapters, personal stories, trials, failures. I discovered how to stay sane, focused when I had babies. One of the things I talk about in that book is how my attitude towards tech, being online and social media. There is a lot of judgment online and it is addicting. You find yourself in this weird headspace sometimes and that's the basis of how I feel about tech and social media phenomenon now especially with our kids.

When does the habit of Screen Time Addiction begin for kids

It is so easy to get overwhelmed as a parent. The one thing I never ever did with my kids is I hand down the iPhone or iPad to them at a restaurant, in a store, or in the car. When we were traveling when they were babies and toddlers, never did I once give the iPad or the phone to appease them. Because right then and there the habits start. Screentime addiction starts for them when they're babies and toddlers. I am NOT going to be giving them what I equate as " a chocolate candy bar for breakfast" to every single morning just because they say they want it.
