I met with a lot of resistance when doing this episode. But to paraphrase 'black lesbian feminist warrior mother' Audre Lorde, my silence will not protect me. So I pushed forward because I personally know black women who are hurting enough to consider taking their life because being strong has proven to not be enough.

In episode S2 E15, I talk about...

  • why I think successful BW (& BM) end their own life
  • the toll that the pursuit of Black Excellence takes on BW
  • the burdens of the strong black woman
  • the many reasons a black woman might consider ending her life
  • how black women can save themselves and each other

Finally, I share my personal experience with depression, suicide, and spirituality.
