2024-08-01 | Political prisoners were released in a historic exchange.
Even during the Cold War between the Soviet Union and the United States
there was not an exchange of prisoners comparable to this. Many people
thought that these people had a de facto a life sentence (or at least
until Putin died). The release included Vladmir Kara-Murza, Oleg Orlov,
Ilya Yashin, Evan Gershkovich and other lesser know dissidents: Liliya
Chernysheva, Ksenia Fadeeva, Alexander Chalenko, Vadim Astanin, and many
others.
