Johann Scheerer is a producer and the founder of Clouds Hill studio in Hamburg, Germany. He’s known for working with artists like James Johnston (Gallon Drunk, Nick Cave), Pete Doherty and Omar Rodriguez Lopez (At the Drive-In, Bosnian Rainbows), as well as his impressive collection of vintage recording gear. Marc Young visited him to talk about the allure of tape and tubes.
