IL&FS, Essel, and Others - Why NBFCs were failing in 2018-19

NBFCs borrow money from banks and the public to give out loans. They make money by keeping the difference between the interest rate they receive from their customers and the interest rate they pay to their lenders. But something went awry in this arrangement in 2018-19.
