Season 5, Episode 49: Show Up and Be Heard

Today’s episode of the podcast is an interview with the lovely Leyla Alexander, a freelance graphic designer and founder of the sustainable clothing brand You Are The Sea.

In this conversation, we chat about the juggle between client work and creative passion projects, and why it’s totally okay, and actually really powerful, to do something just because it brings you joy.

We explore the pressures so many of us feel to monetise everything we enjoy, the value of allowing ourselves to play and experiment without an outcome, and how to rediscover hobbies, fun and creativity in the day to day.

Leyla also shares her own journey of stepping away from a secure job to freelance life, embracing imperfection, and showing up more authentically than ever before.

ABOUT LEYLA:

Leyla is a freelance graphic designer who specialises in brand identity and web design. She loves working with big-hearted businesses, using her creativity to shine a light on the good they do and spread a little positivity.

She’s also the founder of You Are The Sea, a sustainable clothing brand that donates £2 from every sale to Surfers Against Sewage.
