🎙 Welcome to Shane Hewitt & the Nightshift 🎙

It’s Throwback Thursday so the Nightshift crew, runs through some of our first favourite TV shows we remember. Your texts and contribution help take us down TV memory lane… with terrible theme song impressions too!

The cellular phone is easily the most important anchor device of our modern lifestyle, and the first Motorola call remains a massive milestone 52 years on. Technology expert Carmi Levy joins the Nightshift, and tells us that April 3, 1973 remains an important day in tech history, and while we’re four major wireless generations removed from those clunky, expensive, analog-only first devices, today’s smartphones and the high-speed 5G data networks that feed them owe everything to that first Motorola prototype.

Ed Conroy is the founder of RetrOntario and he joins Shane Hewitt on a Throwback Thursday appearance, for a discussion about the decade of the 1970s, which saw significant changes in television programming in both the United Kingdom and the United States. The trends included the decline of the "family sitcoms" and rural-oriented programs to more socially contemporary shows and "young, hip and urban" sitcoms and the permanent establishment of colour television.
