It is such a pleasure to welcome to the Sense-Making in a Changing World show, Mark Lakeman from Portland Oregon - city repairer, urban permaculture designer place-maker community design facilitator, urban designer and thought leader.
Mark is the co-founder of the not-for-profit organisation, the City Repair Project (Urban Permaculture education) and is the Principal and founder of Communitecture - a cutting edge design firm that works with sustainable building projects at all scales.
As well as being a permaculture designer, Mark is an architect, a landscape architect and a regenerative designer. He works on ecovillages projects, cohousing projects and social housing through a permaculture lens, and through his organisation he has been responsible for over 1200 placemaking projects throughout the city of Portland and beyond.
I had heard of Mark’s work for a long time and was so curious to find out more. This conversation is the first time we had met. What Mark does is deeply inspirational, truly radical and ultimately transformative and healing.
I really hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did.
