Dr. Ruth Chambers-Turner is an inspirational educator and leader who is the Director of the startup school Palmetto Excel Center, a pioneering public charter high school in North Charleston, SC, for adult students returning to earn their high school diplomas. Her credentials include a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Central State University, a master's degree in microbiology and immunology, and a doctorate in education. She previously held the positions of STEM Teacher on the DC Goodwill Excel Center founding team, Lead Instructor (Assistant Principal), and Director when the school expanded to two schools. Through rigorous study of adult learning theory and her extensive research on tutoring and teaching strategies that promote knowledge construction, she has become an effective coach whose passion is helping her team empower adults to reach their goal of graduation.
