Join us for the Kids First Radio Show with Keven Cohen on 100.7 The Point, or stream anywhere on SoundCloud. It is a great way to learn about all the fantastic ways kids are being put first in S.C. On today's show, Keven will speak with Superintendent, Chris Neeley and Dr. Jacinta Bryant, Regional Vice President of Acceleration Academies. She is with us today to discuss Carolina Shores Acceleration Academy in Myrtle Beach, SC. Dr. Jacinta Bryant is a Charleston native and veteran South Carolina educational leader who served as the founding director of Lowcountry Acceleration Academy in North Charleston, SC, and is now Regional Vice President of Acceleration Academies. She is overseeing the new Carolina Shores Acceleration Academy (CSAA), opening this fall in North Myrtle Beach, SC. Carolina Shores Acceleration Academy is a free public charter high school open to all South Carolina high school students up to age 21. CSAA is a place where students who haven’t found success in other settings can build self-esteem, work closely with educators to build on their strengths rather than dwelling on their weaknesses, and emerge not only with a high school diploma but also a clear sense of purpose. The mother of two, Dr. Bryant has earned numerous degrees, including a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from the University of South Carolina. Her professional roles have included working as a school psychologist in the Charleston County School District, serving as the first African-American director of special education in Charleston County School District, and also overseeing special education programs in Colleton County School District. In her personal and professional life, Dr. Bryant has had deep experience with the toll that social and educational injustice can take on young people and their community. Whatever their race or background, young learners will find a “culture that looks out for them” at Lowcountry and Carolina Shores Acceleration Academies. #KidsFirst
