🔊 Welcome back! It's ep.009 of Sayo Says!
If you’re joining for the first time, don’t forget to go back and watch the previous episodes!
I’m your host, Adesayo, but you can call me Sayo, and I’m so happy to have you here.
In today’s episode, we talk about how I almost dieded on the escalators and my skirt was almost pulled down in the process. We also talk about meritocracy, touching on imposter syndrome, anchoring the conversation to the story of how I won Head Girl of my sixth form college and how the election confirmed my perspective on meritocracy and how the world operates. The episode is ultimately discussing the idea of deservedness and how we try to quantify how much someone deserves something based on how much they have suffered before getting it. This is more of a philosophical conversation to get us to think about how we engage with the world based on what we think we deserve and don’t deserve and how we try to find meaning by trying to quantify deservedness.
We also have a very special dilemma segment this week AND WE HAVE A NEW JINGLE!!!!! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
In this episode we talk about:
🧍🏾♀️The lady who put her coochie on my head
⚖️ Meritocracy
🌚 Imposter syndrome
✨ Deservedness and suffering
👩🏾🏫 Running for Head Girl at my College
📧 Dilemmas
🍿This is a must watch if you love nuance and a good story time, and thinking beyond the surface; then you’re going to love this show!
Thank you for watching.
