If you're a seasoned Podcast Listener, this podcast will be different from most you listen to. It's based on exactly what the name implies - Warehouse Safety Tips. And since the people in that industry are busy - we know time is money so each episode will be as short and to the point as possible.
And now that all that is out of the way - let's get to the Podcast!
Don't Assume Safety
I attended a college work co-op opportunity dinner with my son last night. During the presentation, the speaker pointed out the differences in safety over the years. In the past - they placed cages around manufacturing equipment. Today - light curtains have replaced most of the cages. When these beams are broken - the machinery they protect will immediately alarm, slow down, and/or shut down (Depending on what's been programmed). Or at least they SHOULD.
Safety Protocols such as the above-mentioned light curtains are excellent - and it's likely they're trustworthy 99.99% of the time. However - it's that margin of error we ALWAYS want you to keep front of mind. Don't assume safety!
We've covered this before and will cover it again. Attention to safety has to be 100%! How often have you heard someone at a facility say, "We've done that a hundred times before, and nothing happened!" Murphy's Law states, "Anything that can go wrong will go wrong." We don't want you going about your day paranoid of danger. Instead - we want you to perform your duties in a way that you know you've done everything possible to make your job and facility safe.
We are excited to see you next week for another Warehouse Safety Tips.
Until then, have a great week, and STAY SAFE!
