I'm so happy to have my dear friend Joseph Benton on the show to share his struggles with PTSD. With the Johnny Depp trial on everyone's mind at the moment, it's perfect timing for S.O.S. to focus on the men in our lives and dive deep into their stories and struggles.
As a professional communicator with decades of experience, Joseph Benton has worked in public relations for the Marine Corps, owned a newspaper, taught marketing for several colleges including Santa Monica College, and designed/hosted hundreds of websites. He is currently rewriting two of his books that are currently out of print and spends most of his time as an instructional designer and e-learning producer. He and his wife Veronica are proud parents of Angelina.
Joseph was diagnosed with PTSD with a disability rating in 2017 after having experienced the symptoms and problems associated with PTSD before he left active duty in 1991. He lost a friend who served with him to suicide and lost another friend on active duty to suicide in 2021.
