God’s sovereignty and mercy.

2. The purpose of God’s law is to show God’s perfection and humanity’s imperfection. 

3. People can be saved not through the works of the law but by the mercy of God in Christ.

Why is salvation by grace/mercy of God and not by works of the law?

Sovereign Lord, You said in Your Word that You will have mercy on whom You have mercy, and You will have compassion on whom You have compassion. Thank You because I am included in those people whom You have shown mercy and compassion. Thank You I received the true gospel of Jesus.
