💁🏻 Concept: Personal Address
Personal address refers to those moments in Scripture when God speaks directly to individuals or groups on earth. This form of God’s Word shows His intimate and intentional communication with His people—calling, commanding, warning, and comforting. Personal address highlights God’s sovereignty and relational nearness. He is not distant or silent; He speaks with authority and love. Though today we don’t hear God’s audible voice as in the days of Moses or Paul, He still personally addresses us through Scripture by His Spirit, convicting, guiding, and assuring us in our daily walk with Him.
📖 Bible Readings: Genesis 12:1
(Exodus 3:4-6; 1 Samuel 3:10; Matthew 3:17; Acts 9:4-6; Hebrews 1:1-2; John 10:27; Hebrews 1:1-3; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:19-21; Deuteronomy18:20-22; Ephesians 2:20)
👨🏻💻 Teachings:
Why doesn’t God speak to us audibly today?
1. Jesus is the final revelation of God.
2. We already have the Bible as the Word of God.
3. God speaks to us through the Word and the Spirit.
💪🏼 Applications:
1. Believe in the sufficiency of the Bible.
2. Test all preachings in light of the Bible.
3. Ask the Spirit’s guidance as you study the Word.
🎙Discussion:
How does it impact your daily life to know that God still speaks to you through His Word, guided by the Spirit?
Alternative questions:
1. What have you learned from this devotion?
2. How can you practically apply our devotion?
🙏🏼 Prayer:
Living God, thank You that You are not silent. You have spoken through the prophets, through Your Son, and through Your Word—and You still speak today. Open my ears and heart to hear when You correct, comfort, or call me. Help me not to harden my heart, but to respond with trust and obedience. Teach me to love Your voice in the pages of Scripture and to seek You daily in prayer. Thank You for being near and personal, not distant or vague. Speak, Lord—Your servant is listening. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
