💁🏻 Concept: Penal Substitution
Penal substitution is the biblical view that Christ, in His death, bore the penalty of God’s justice for our sins as our substitute. The word penal points to the legal punishment for sin, and substitution means Christ took our place. At the cross, Jesus absorbed the wrath we deserved, satisfying divine justice and securing our forgiveness. He was treated as a sinner so that we could be treated as righteous. This is not a cold legal transaction, but the blazing center of God’s love and holiness—where mercy and justice meet perfectly in the suffering Savior.
📖 Bible Readings: 1 Peter 2:24
(2 Corinthians 5:21; Romans 3:25-26; 1 Peter 2:24; Galatians 3:13; Hebrews 9:28; Mark 10:45; Isaiah 53:4-6)

🙏🏼 Prayer:
Lord Jesus, thank You for taking my place on the cross. You bore the wrath I deserved and suffered the penalty for my sin. Because of Your sacrifice, I am forgiven, free, and no longer under condemnation. Fill my heart with gratitude, humility, and awe. Help me to never forget the cost of my redemption. Let the truth of Your substitution shape my life, my worship, and my witness. I rest not in my works but in Your finished work on the cross. In Your precious name I pray. Amen.
