There is a concept of the zero sum game where transactions lead to a taking and a giving, with no net increase or decrease.  This certainly flies  in the face of abundance but it feels a bit nihilistic.  Of course, there is an opposing viewpoint, and in this case we can call it the non-zero sum game.  But this doesn't always lead to a net positive.  Sometimes you have a loss leader.
