Rise Tribe Takeaways:

  • Parental alienation occurs when one parent encourages their child to unfairly reject the other parent.

  • Signs of Parental Alienation:

  1. The child is full of hatred toward the targeted parent.

  2. The child doesn’t have factual or logical reasoning behind their hostility toward the targetted parent.

  3. In case of conflict, the child is more likely to side with the narcissistic parent than the targetted parent.

  • If your child is showing signs of alienation, DO NOT do the following:

  1. Beg your child to cooperate with you.

  2. Put yourself in an equal position as your child.

  3. Demonstrate weakness.

  4. Act without compassion.

  5. Exude a lack of confidence.

  6. Spend little time with your children.

  7. Ignore your intuition.

  8. Make every situation a crisis.

  9. Forget you’re in a psychological battle.

  10. Give away your power.

  • If your child is showing signs of alienation, DO the following:

  1. Get support.

  2. Take care of yourself.

  3. Stay consistent.

  4. Understand that this is a psychological battle.

  5. Be confident in your decision-making and your ability to lead.

  6. Show empathy.

  7. Spend time with your child.

  8. Reflect their actions back to them.

  9. Give choices whenever you can.

  10. Respond rather than react.

  • When a narcissist can no longer control you, they will try to control how others view you.
