Your scale is a tool, not a trap.


I weigh myself daily when I'm home. The number tends to be the same when I'm not trying to gain or lose weight. But sometimes it's not.


If it's low and I'm not trying to lose weight and haven't been in a calorie deficit, I know I'm fighting something.


If it's high after a workout or a race, I know I'm retaining water or inflammation. Depending on how much that is, it will determine how I treat the next few days. A pound or two is normal. Five pounds or more, active recovery and light movement based work until it comes down.


If the scale bothers you, it's a mental skill you are lacking. Learn to understand the use and how it can help you feel better.
