I love being in rooms where I'm far from the smartest person there. I learn so much, and I can just soak in knowledge.
At my latest conference, there was a talk on motivation. I've missed the mark on this... A LOT!
The funny part is that I've done a good job over the years helping people grow and develop into the best versions of themselves. Now I know why.
I treated them like they had already made it. I held them to the standards they wanted to achieve, not the ones they currently operated under.
With this new knowledge, I can be even more intentional. And when I think they aren't motivated, instead of trying to pep them up, now I'll know to look at the conditions we can change instead of wasting time trying to do something I can't.
