It might seem like it's longer, but the reality is most of your day is not spent in that emotion you don't like.
The problem is that those few minutes a day are what you focus on the rest of the time. It seems like more because you keep reliving those few minutes and allow them to override the rest of the day.
Change your focus. In those moments, thank them for their contribution to your life, then refocus on the rest of the day.
