Ashley Avis is a thirty-six-year-old award winning writer/director/editor of six feature films, including Disney's BLACK BEAUTY starring Oscar winner Kate Winslet; the upcoming CITY OF ANGELS for Warner Bros. based on Wim Wenders' classic, and the critically acclaimed WILD BEAUTY: MUSTANG SPIRIT OF THE WEST.
WILD BEAUTY, which has won numerous awards on the film festival circuit and debuted in May 2023, marked a five year long passion project for Avis. The documentary is a cinematic journey into the world of wild horses, along with a journalistic exposé into the corruption befalling them. The film has been called "groundbreaking" and has garnered support from major environmental organizations, lawmakers, celebrities, and children.
A passionate advocate for horses, Avis is the Founder and President of The Wild Beauty Foundation, a 501c3 nonprofit organization which rescues horses and creates educational programs for children. Ashley and her husband and producing partner, Edward Winters co-founded Winterstone Pictures in Los Angeles.
