#8 - GRATITUDE
In Chapter five, we covered the power of heart energy and we walked you through all the emotions in terms of how they measured in magnetometers. Gratitude was one of the highest emotions measured and extremely powerful, emitting 500-600 magnetometers. In fact, it is psychologically impossible to feel a deep sense of gratitude and complain or be vindictive at the same time.
Gratitude has the power to heal the mind and heart of past hurts or tragedies in our lives. Those who, intentionally, choose to think about what they are grateful for every day, will find themselves feeling stronger, healthier and more well-adjusted lives.
Some might say, “Well if you knew my life and what has happened to me, you would agree that I have nothing to be grateful about.”
When we choose to belief this, we are lying to ourselves or looking for excuses to stay bitter. We can be grateful for breath, strength, trees, flowers, the sun, the moon, loved ones, faith, values, beliefs, etc. There are so many other things that it would take many more chapters to list them all.
One of the assignments I give clients as a portion of their “brain training” is to come up with 9 things each week to be grateful for, write them down and think about them each day. This “Attitude of Gratitude” becomes a habit and alters your physiology (Chapters 3 and 4). The more you do to maintain a sense of gratitude, the more you will bring about a change in you that will become evident to all who are around you. Everyone wants to be around someone who is consistently grateful, just as everyone wants to get away from everyone who is consistently ungrateful.
I’d like to challenge you at this point:
Create a “gratitude list” and post it where you will see it (i.e. bathroom mirror or dressing area). Then speak it aloud with feelings of gratitude every day, first thing in the morning and again, before going to bed. Do this for one full week. If you are diligent, you will notice a difference, intrinsically and extrinsically.
