This week's theme for the podcast is: Personal Boundaries

Personal boundaries are key is establishing & maintaining stability within mental health. Knowing how to create & maintain boundaries are also skills that will become invaluable & crucial to daily happiness & self-acceptance.

Here are some great ideas on how to create, improve & maintain Personal Boundaries!

Here are some notes from today's episode:

  • Let me start by listing some of the benefits of establishing boundaries: better relationships, greater assertiveness, more compassion, less anger & resentment, feeling respect for yourself & others, increased confidence, less stress & anxiety.
  • Something I mentioned in yesterday’s episode I will repeat again today is to address boundary violations early so things don’t get out of hand or you let your feeling build up. That’s not good for anyone, especially you.
  • So some key things for how to set boundaries & maintain those successfully is to start with clearly identify your own boundaries & know why you need them.
  • I know I am always bringing it back to self-awareness, but you have to know that it’s important. It’s an absolute.
  • After you do both of those things, make sure you are always straightforward with others about boundaries & don’t apologize or give any long explanations for implementing your boundaries. It’s your decision to make & others should respect that.
  • But I would make sure you are cognizant of how share this with others. Make sure you are always calm & polite.
  • Don’t let guilt eat you up. Know it’s ok to say no, do less things & have a little more breathing room for yourself.
  • A couple quick points to end this week’s series on: get your happiness from gratitude, not status.
  • Focus on your progress of maintain boundaries, not perfection.
  • Prioritize your needs and ask for help when you need it.
