It began like an ordinary night—movies, late hours, and the quiet lull of drifting toward sleep. But for one teenager, her boyfriend’s father’s apartment would become the setting of a memory she could never shake.
Around 2 a.m., after everyone had nodded off, she slipped into the spare bedroom. The TV outside hummed low, cars passed on the street, and the apartment seemed at peace. But when she lay beneath the blankets, something pressed down on her chest. Then her arms. Then her legs. She couldn’t move. Couldn’t scream. Couldn’t even open her eyes.
Paralyzed, yet fully aware, she listened in horror as a guttural, inhuman voice growled into her ear: “Kill them all.” The words weren’t just for her—they were about everyone in the apartment. Only her boyfriend’s father stirred. When she poured out the story, he looked at her calmly and said words she’ll never forget: “Oh honey, that’s just my ghost protecting me.”
Her boyfriend later dismissed it as sleep paralysis. But she knew what she felt. She knew what she heard. And nothing about it felt protective.
