What do you do when your highly sensitive child insists that they’re “a bad kid” or that they’re “stupid?” How do you handle it without making things worse?

In this week's episode, I share a story from my own real-life parenting where my child insisted that he was a bad kid, and I initially handled the situation in a way that made things worse. I also share what I did to repair my mistake and how I eventually helped him with these uncomfortable feelings.

Here’s the thing: Our highly sensitive kids often feel intense shame, especially when they make a mistake or feel as though they’ve disappointed us. Helping them tolerate their feelings of shame often requires us to go against our instincts – but once you understand what to do in these moments, you’ll be so much better able to support your child and build real resilience.
