As the 2024 whitetail season is drawing to a close here in Iowa and in other states, the preparation for next year begins. With that preparation comes shed season and the hope that your young bucks that have potential make it through the winter. Like many hunters out there, you may be putting out some alfalfa bales or mineral blocks to help your deer get some extra nutrients during the winter. The other purpose behind putting out food an mineral is to see if you can help those bucks grow their antlers in the upcoming season. The real question is, how much can we as hunter really effect the antler growth in a deer?
