"A Christmas Story" Hidden Reason we Love It

The movie "A Christmas Story" is a cherished story of a young boy's quest for the perfect Christmas gift; the Red Ryder Carbine Action 200-shot Range Model air rifle. 

And the movie became an instant classic, often religiously watched in countless houses during the Christmas season.

But what is it about the movie that is so compelling?  I suggest that there is a hidden sense of connection that many of us have to Ralphie.
