Sri Aurobindo's Savitri - The Auroville Radio Talks: Book X, Canto II, Part 5

Death tries to prove that the eternal love and eternal soul-relationship between Savitri and Satyavan are only passing thoughts which are made in the impermanent mind. He already falsely claimed that mind was made by matter and matter is not only impermanent, it is also unreal because it is a cover of passing energies. Now Death concludes his false arguments by piling falsehood on falsehood. He attacks the immortality of love and the soul by saying the world is only a machine. He claims neither divine wisdom nor divine love have their place on earth. When matter perishes, love, wisdom, the Ideal, the soul and God are gone. The only thing left is Death’s everlasting sleep.
