Death has always tried to convince Savitri that her thoughts created her Immortal soul and her Immortal love for Satyavan. He told her to chastise her heart with knowledge. Now he changes his position. After saying that Savitri should prefer knowledge to love, Death completely negates the mind. Now he says that the mind came out of matter, but matter does not exist because everything is only energy. Then he asserts the falsehood that all was well until thought came in to spoil the happiness and harmony of the world.
