I recently read a quote attributed to Eleanor Roosevelt, “Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people.” Socrates has a similar quote using strong, average and weak minds. This quote suggests that the quality of a person’s thinking is reflected in the type of topics they engage with.

In this episode, I’m going to share with you a few of my thoughts I had after reading this quote. I’m going to describe what I think it means and share some examples and visuals to go with them.

Small minds are similar to adolescent brains--immature, emotionally reactive, focused on others, criticize without action, and obsessed with social media.

Average minds are what most people have--focused on daily tasks and routines, engaged in superficial conversations, and have limited to no time for deeper reflection.

Great minds are leaders and visionaries--curious, lifelong learners, take action and risks, live to make a positive difference and impact on the world around them.
