Context

Jesus is eating with sinners, and many religious people cannot understand why a good person would eat with “lost” people.  Jesus tells three parables explaining that His mission is driven by seeking the lost.

            Jesus emphasizes the value of one lost person.   

            Heaven rejoices for every single one returned. 

            The restoration of one is worthy of comfort, security,       effort, and emotional investment.

Œ Every ONE is broken because of sin.                  

 Every ONE will spend forever somewhere.

Ž Every ONE is loved by God. 

      We are not only saved from—we are saved toward.

 Every ONE can experience new life.

            The kingdom of heaven is like treasure, buried in a field, that a man found and reburied. Then in his joy he goes and sells             everything he has and buys that field.      

Matthew 13:44

 Every ONE gets in the same way.

Good people don’t go to heaven,                                                                     forgiven people go to heaven.
