RECAP
The Latin word incarnation = to become flesh
The doctrine of the incarnation teaches that Jesus was always God and became a Man.
Jesus is 100% God and 100% Man.
The Incarnation makes justice and mercy possible.
The incarnation & God’s character
•God is an initiative taking God.
•God desires to dwell with humanity.
•God self-sacrifices to accomplish His purposes.
Incarnation & missions
Christians take the initiative to meet the needs of our community.
Christians actively seek to “dwell” with others in our community.
The gospel normally spreads through relationships.
The term “incarnational” has been used to describe Christian mission work that emphasizes “dwelling” with those we are trying to reach.
Risks of incarnational ministry
•It is easy to lose your distinctiveness.
•The closer you are to people the more difficult it becomes to share your faith.
Christian missions have not been done until the Christian message has been shared.
Sacrifice for the mission is normal behavior for Christian people.
