DISCOURAGMENT

Genesis 39-41

Ø Our faith in Jesus does not insulate us from hardship. 

Ø The enemy would want us to settle for false gospels.

Ø Our hope is in the fact that Jesus never leaves us.

Ø Because Jesus has proven faithful, we strive for faithfulness.  

We must not get tired of doing good, for we will reap at the proper time if we don’t give up.

                  Galatians 6:9

Joseph’s discouraging history

The only thing more difficult than being falsely accused, is to be convicted of false accusations.

·      He continued to accept responsibility.    

Genesis 39:21-23

·      He was sensitive to the needs of others.  

Genesis 40:1-6

·      He kept his faith in God.                                

Genesis 40:8-9

·      He maintained his integrity even in jail.

·      He refused to lose hope.

what about us?

ΠKeep doing what you know is right.

 Be aware of the needs of others.

Ž Trust in God’s faithfulness.     

 Look to the example of Jesus.          

keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that lay before Him endured a cross & despised the shame and has sat down at the right hand of God’s throne.

 For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, so that you won’t grow weary and lose heart.    Hebrews 12:2-3
