Series:   Kingdom Principles

big lessons about small things

Matthew 13: 31-33

A parable is an earthly story that illustrates spiritual truths.

The Parable of the Mustard Seed

“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his field.  It’s the smallest of all the seeds, but when grown, it’s taller than the vegetables and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the sky come and nest in its branches.”

The kingdom of God had small beginnings; however, its growth has affected billions of people throughout history.

The Parable of the Leaven

“The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into 50 pounds of flour until it spread through all of it.”

The gospel will spread organically and entirely throughout the world.

Kingdom Principle:

Small things make a great impact.

“Small” faith is incredibly powerful in the economy of heaven.

Matthew 17:20; Hebrews 11:6

God chooses seemingly small people and events for His purposes.  Because our praise tends to bend toward men, God uses the insignificant to glorify Himself.

I Corinthians 1:26-29

Character is developed through small actions.

Leaven is represented both positively and negatively in Scripture.

God is to reign over all of your life, especially the small things.

Faithfulness in small things prepare you for greater tasks.

Matthew 25:23

God rewards every action done for His glory.

Mark 9:41; Luke 18:29-30
