THE POWER OF GOD'S LIFE-CHANGING LOVE: 31st Sunday C

My Brothers and Sisters in the Lord –

The message from all three readings today is very clear. God is inviting you and me, to receive & accept the presence and power of His life-changing love which he gives freely & unconditionally to us all. 

The first reading from The Book of Wisdom,  reminds us that at every moment, God is sustaining each one of us with the breath of life. And that we would fall back into nothingness, at once, if God did not have his love focused on us in an uninterrupted way.
In the Gospel reading, we meet Zacchaeus, the tax collector a wealthy man, whose hands were not clean. A man not only hated by the masses but considered a public sinner,  who took advantage of the oppressive tax system and  amassed himself a great fortune by demanding people pay more than were  required to. 

Jesus responds positively to his attempts to seek him and invites himself to his house. An invitation which Zacchaeus meaning "pure" receives and accepts. 

Brothers and sisters we are much like Zacchaeus in many ways, full of shortcomings and imperfections, flawed, immoral, cheats, a collaborators, sinners, you name we are it. 

But do we possess Zacchaeus' unsatiable desire to seek Jesus in our sinfulness? Are we willing to say Yes to his call to come down from all prevents us from seeing, knowing and being a true disciples of Jesus? This is our challenge this sunday. What is our response to Jesus saying to you me “Come down from that tree.Today I must stay at your house”. AMEN
