According to the article, the Smithsonian Institution was funding the excavation, which reportedly uncovered artifacts such as copper weapons, statues of Egyptian deities, and tablets inscribed with hieroglyphics. The narrative reported that the civilization was of Oriental origin, possibly Egyptian, and had been linked to ancient cultures like those of Ramses.
