30: "Mindful" Meats? by Hope Bohanec at United Poultry Concerns and HumaneHoax.org

In honor of National Animal Rights Day this Sunday, June 6th, I’m reading this article by Hope Bohanec of United Poultry Concerns and The Humane Hoax. Hope discusses the flagrant humane-washing in the animal agriculture industry and longs for the day when slaughterhouses are relics of a violent past.  

Hope has been involved in animal protection and environmental activism for 30 years and has published the book The Ultimate Betrayal: Is There Happy Meat? She is the Projects Manager for the national non-profit United Poultry Concerns (UPC) and the host of the Hope for the Animals Podcast - one of my favorites! 

Over the last three decades, Hope has given countless presentations, written articles, and organized hundreds of events including UPC’s annual Conscious Eating Conference and the Sonoma County VegFest. And she's one of the key organizers of HumaneHoax.org a collaborative effort of vegan activists, writers, and organizations who are working together to reveal the truth about “humane” animal agriculture.
