It's a Sanskrit term meaning action.It refers to the cycle of cause and effect. 

According to it, what you sow, so shall you reap. Put in good thoughts, and efforts and you shall be benefitted and vice versa. Both actions and their consequences are for each of us to face, right here in this life.
