Kick It With Donna episode 49 – Freedom from Mercury

Mercury is a planet, but that’s not the mercury we’re talking about.  Ever wonder if the mercury fillings in your mouth are an issue?  Dr. Philip Kozlow practices the latest holistic dentistry, also referred to as biological or alternative.  He explains the process of removing mercury fillings and how that can benefit you.

Show notes:

If you’re like everyone else, you have mercury fillings in your mouth from cavities.  This is also called dental amalgam.  Other than being unsightly, why are they undesirable?

Dental amalgam contain elemental mercury.   It releases low levels of mercury in the form of vapor that can be inhaled and absorbed by the lungs.  High levels of vapor exposure are associated with adverse effects in the brain and kidneys.  This means that mercury is a neurotoxin.  Yuck!

So why do so many dentists use mercury to fill your teeth when a cavity presents itself?  This is what they were trained to do and it is the least expensive filling option that is less likely to break than other filling material.

What is the process for removing them?  After being draped in a gown, a nose piece is placed over your nose that gives you oxygen.  Dr. Kozlow and his assistants are also in gowns with a surgical mask over their mouth.  A suction tube is placed on your abdomen to remove mercury vapors while undergoing the procedure.  Basically, the room turns into a hazmat procedure!  Dr.  Kozlow removes the fillings in one piece and replaces them with a metal free filling that can be matched to the color of your teeth giving you an aesthetically pleasing restoration.

Dr. Kozlow’s advice is to look for “Mercury Safe” NOT “Mercury Free”.  He is also a member of IAOMAT which is the International Academy of Oral Medicine & Toxicology.  He is located in Addison, Texas and can be reached at 972-458-2464.

I have gone down this road myself and removed the mercury fillings from my mouth.  Many tests told me that I had heavy metals in my system and mercury was high.  I am very proactive about my health.  Why not do something positive and head off potential problems down the road?
