But I allowed myself to eat the food, so why am I still bingeing on it? I’m sure you can relate to craving certain foods even after you’ve told yourself that you’re allowing them back into your diet. You feel frustrated because you’ve given yourself permission to eat those foods, yet you can’t let go of the obsession with them. Giving yourself permission to eat foods that you previously restricted is a process that requires unlearning your food rules and diet mentality thoughts. Even if you have stopped dieting, the mental restriction may be holding you back from finally eating foods you love without guilt, fear, or shame.
