When he was 37 years old, Richard Burton woke up at 5am to the sound of a garbage truck reversing and in that very moment, decided to walk away from a very well paid 17-year career in property. With two young children and a third soon on the way, his colleagues, friends and family thought he was having an early mid-life crisis.

Richard knew there had to be a better way. A better way to live; and a much better way to help other people live, on purpose. He is now recognised as one of Australia’s leading coaches working with executives, athletes and everyday people to take their career performance to new heights. Richard coaches people to re-design their careers based on a method that helps them uncover their purpose.

In this episode Andrew and Richard discuss:

03:05 Why purpose is important

08:20 Richard's "garbage truck wake-up call"

15:50 How Andrew discovered his purpose

20:00 Which parts of the job Richard likes most

29:20 The 3 levels of being on purpose

41:00 Making decisions on purpose
