In this episode we will start a new series on how to switch your career successfully. Essentially, we want to look at the concept of pivoting your career strategically from your current or previous positions to a new one. Truth be told, most people will have to change career a couple of times in their career journey. The economy and the changes around us make it a necessity to prepare for career change. According to Peter F. Drucker “For most of us, we will have to learn to manage ourselves. We will have to place ourselves where we can make the most contribution. And we will have to stay mentally alert and engaged during the 50-year working life, which means knowing how and when to change the work we do.”
Not sure where you are at, but in recent times people have had been furloughed and many are trying to get back to work. It may have been very trying and challenging. My first question to you is: “What is informing your decision to change your career? Why are you transitioning into another career?” It could be that you have just lost your job and feel it might be a good time to switch career to what you have always wanted to do. You might be here because you feel your current job does not truly give you what you want. You might feel stuck on your current job not knowing what to do, or you are looking to increase your income and believe changing your career will be a way to achieve that. Whatever your reason or reasons might be, I want to congratulate you for making the decision to take the driver’s seat of your own career.
